Atomium MGSB - Transmission oil additive to fix manual or semiautomatic gearbox, to restore working parameters, reduce noise and vibrations, facilitate gear shifting, reduce energy loss and thus save fuel consumption.

Manual gearbox oil additive to restore operative parameters, reduce noise and vibrations, facilitate gear shifting, reduce energy loss and thus save fuel consumption. Suitable for all types of manual gearboxes including semi-automatic ones as they use the same type of torque transmission mechanism.

Atomium MGSB is compatible with all brands of transmission oil. It is chemically neutral and doesn’t change oil properties.

EFFECTS OF APPLICATION

Atomium MGSB creates conditions for gradual restoration of worn friction surfaces of gear teeth and synchronizer couplings. As result a new protective metallic layer appears on the friction surfaces which may retain dense oil film due to its microporous structure. Optimized friction clearances and improved lubrication allows you to solve the following tasks:

TO REDUCE OR COMPLETELY ELIMINATE THE HUM, NOISE AND VIBRATION WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS RUNNING

Restored shape of the gear teeth ensures their correct and smooth engagement. In addition, their contacts are softened by a denser oil film on the surface of the teeth. It eliminates micro-impacts of teeth and thus reduces the hum and noise during operation.

Noise and vibrations may be also caused by worn bearings. It gives higher tone of hum. Atomium MGSB is able to restore them along with gears as they are lubricated by the same oil.

Atomium oil additive is effective regardless of what specific gear pair is noisy. All of them are lubricated with the same oil and are being treated equally. Restoration process goes on until the worn details are restored to the optimal shape.

Atomium MGSB may be useful also to facilitate running-in of new gearboxes. The process goes faster.

TO FACILITATE GEAR SHIFTING, GET RID OF THE "CRUNCH" WHEN SWITCHING

In manual transmission there may appear troubles in gear shifting. Gears are not shifted from the first stick movement, the switching is hard, some crunching noises may appear. Very probably it shows that teeth of the synchronizer clutch are worn and are not engaged smoothly.

Tribotechnical gearbox additive restores the surfaces of the teeth on the synchro couplings. In addition, the restored surfaces retain a denser film of oil. This makes it easier for the coupling to engage with the locking ring and then with the transmission gear. Gear shifting becomes smooth, quiet and fast.

TO REDUCE FUEL CONSUMPTION BY INCREASING THE VEHICLE'S FREE RUN

A dense oil film on the surfaces of the teeth ensures their smooth entry into and exit from the engagement, which reduces energy losses during transmission operation. This increases the run-out-free running of the car in neutral gear, and leads to a reduction in fuel consumption.

TO EXTEND THE LIFESPAN OF THE GEARBOX

A denser oil film on the surfaces of parts treated with Atomium gearbox additive significantly slows down their further wear and protects them when working with high loads. This extends the service life of the entire unit, allows you to postpone the repair or replacement of the manual transmission even if the first signs of wear appear.

HOW IT WORKS

Tribotechnical compound contains particles of the active mineral. Being in transmission oil they time to time get into the local zones around a point of surfaces’ contact. There are a high local pressure and the temperature which exceeds 1000 °C. In those conditions mineral get able to activate metallic bonds, which let the surface to capture and attach metal microparticles from the oil. Gradually, a solid metal protective layer is formed on the entire worn surface. The mineral itself remain in the oil and initiates restoration process in other points.

The protective layer is hard and smooth, which reduces friction. It also has a porous structure with a large number of micro-hollows. They are filled with oil, which forms a continuous film due to surface tension forces. This oil film is never completely separated from the surface of the part, does not flow down even during a long idle time. The protective layer itself can withstand heavy loads due to microhardness and microelasticity compared to the factory surface.

Restored shape and effective lubrication allow the parts to perform their functions as it was laid down in the design of the unit, which improves performance parameters of the whole mechanism.

HOW TO USE

Gearbox additive Atomium MGSB must be added once to the transmission oil through the standard oil filling hole. To continuously maintain the recovery effects it is recommended to add the compound with each regular oil change in the transmission.

FEATURES

The principle of a manual transmission can be described as follows: at different speeds the torque is transmitted through a pair of gears with different diameter ratio.

When the torque is transmitted by one pair all the rest rotate in free mode, without coupling with the shaft. When switching gears, the driver mechanically disconnects the current working pair of gears from the shaft and connects another one with help of the lever.

Each pair of gears works at a high speed of rotation and under a high load – after all it should move the whole car. The gear teeth engage and detach each other hundreds of times per second. Calculating the shape of a gear and its teeth is a complex engineering task.

If teeth are well lubricated and have a proper shape they get in contact smoothly – the mechanism works relatively quietly and evenly. If a teeth for any reason looses its original shape there appear vibrations and various noises. Sometimes it is said that "the box is humming" or "the box is howling". The sound tone depends on the speed of rotation of the shafts and gears. This is not surprising – the faster the pair rotates the more often damaged teeth goes in contact and thus the higher the frequency of the hum or howl.

Below are some particularly common cases in which the use of tribotechnical compounds can solve the problem.

TRANSMISSION HUMS, HOWLS, SCREAMS, MAKES NOISE AT ONE GEAR

Damaged gear pair will make noises when it is under the load. When it spins freely the sound volume and vibrations are much lower. This is helpful to know to detect an exact problem with your manual or semi-automatic clutchless gearbox.

When noise comes always at one and the same gear it is very probable that exactly this gear part is worn there are some scratches on its teeth.

There are various manual gearbox oil additives aimed to resolve this problem. They are using different principles and technologies. Atomium MSGB compound restores worn surfaces and gives them ability to retain dense oil film. Nothing more. It doesn’t change properties of transmission fluid, does not use third-party materials – e.g. soft metals such as cuprum – to form soft “gaskets” between steel teeth. This is advantage of Atomium technology.

MANUAL TRANSMISSION JAMS WHEN YOU CHANGE GEARS

Hard shifting can be caused by wear of ledges and grooves that connect gears with the shaft or wear of the teeth of synchronizers. Even a small violation in the exact position of the gear force its teeth inaccurately fall into the grooves of the gear. Switching occurs with a noticeable effort, sometimes not from the first attempt.

Atomium transmission fluid additive isn’t able to restore the shape of synchronizers because they made of brass and the compound is active only with steel. However it may restore teeth of synchronizer clutch and improve its lubrication. Parts engagement becomes easier.

GEARBOX BEARING PRODUCE HUM, NOISE

In case an irritating noise goes on all the time no matter what gear you are using the reason is very probably a worn out bearing. If noise is louder at idle time on neutral gear – the problem happens with bearing of input shaft. When noise appear as car moves – a bearing of output shaft is worn out.

Manual gearbox oil additive is able to resolve these problem avoiding costly repair. The shape of groove in bearing races may be restored in the same manner as worn out surfaces of gear teeth. The recovery process is most active exactly where there are the greatest problems – local loads are always higher where micro-shock occurs. It ensures the right shape of race at the end. Bearing balls stop hitting the race, noise and vibration goes away.

This feature makes the use of a tribotechnical additive useful, for example, after installation of a new bearing. The compound facilitates and accelerates the correct running-in of parts.

NEW OR REPAIRED GEARBOX IS NOISY

Sometimes it happens that a brand new transmission or a recently bulkhead gearbox does not work smoothly. The reason behind it may be not well lapped parts which still require some running in.

In this situation, the application of the Atomium additive can help to speed up the process of running-in to make it more effective. In some points particles of compound helps to destruct micro-peaks if the surface has a suboptimal roughness. All over the surface it builds up a tiny protective layer, which is better lubricated. This allows you to quickly and safely run in a new box and get rid of noise.

ADVANTAGES

Tribotechnical compound (gearbox additive) Atomium MGSB refers to a class of products that are commonly called additives or additives to transmission oil. Various additives available in auto chemical stores have a different principle of action, although they promise similar effects: easier gear shifting, reduced noise. Tribotechnical compound has several advantages which are explained below.

SAFE FOR THE TRANSMISSION

The active component of the tribo-compound is active minerals of the ultramafic group. Minerals affect the friction surfaces of steel rubbing parts and let them to capture metallic particles out of lubricant. The restoration process goes on until the friction clearances are optimal for the system. Then temperature and pressure in friction areas go down which makes mineral inactive.

Mineral particles are constantly in the oil, and if they settle in different parts of the gearbox when idle, they are easily washed away by the oil flow when starting the unit. They do not clog the oil filter, because the size is much smaller than its cell. They do not disrupt the operation of non-steel of the box, because they do not interact with composite materials, non-ferrous metals or rubber. The mineral particles are also not able to change the properties of the transmission oil or the package of chemical additives in it in any way.

The only thing that the Atomium MGSB can do is to restore a worn out friction surface. This ensures that there are no side effects or imbalances in the operation of the unit's components.

DOES NOT REQUIRE CONSTANT PRESENCE IN THE GEARBOX

A number of additives for gearboxes use soft metals: copper, zinc etc. Some others contain molybdenum disulphide. By filling cavities and worn areas, these metals decrease roughness and facilitate engagement, the molybdenum film improves sliding. However, this coating is very fragile, soft metals quickly wear out.

To maintain this coating, it is necessary that they are constantly in the lubricating oil in sufficient quantity. At the same time copper and zinc are gradually deposited in various sections of the gearbox and are no longer lifted by the passing oil flow. The coating on the friction surfaces is worn and can not be restored, so the effect of using such an additive gradually decreases and may disappear completely.

In contrast to such additives Atomium MGSB compound creates a metallic protective layer, which is tightly connected with the original surface of the part. It is significantly more resistant to wear than the coating with soft metals. After treatment with tribo-compound the layer remains in place for 130-160 thousand kilometres regardless of how many times transmission oil is changed.

APPLICATION

Atomium MGSB is designed to protect against wear, extend the service life and restore the characteristics of mechanical gearboxes of passenger cars, including robotic transmissions of any design.

Atomium MGSB should be added to the manual or semi-automatic gearbox just once. In case if a transmission fluid replacement is planned - change it first and then add compound to the new oil. Mechanical and robotic gearboxes are treated as follows:

Warm up the transmission to operating temperature (normal operation).
Turn off the engine.
Carefully mix the bottle with the composition, so that the sediment at the bottom is distributed throughout the entire volume of the liquid.
Pour 1 bottle of the compound into the gearbox through the oil filling hole of the unit.
Right after adding the compound, make a trip by car for 20-30 minutes in normal operation.
1 bottle of Atomium MGSB is enough to handle any transmission with a volume of transmission fluid up to 3.5 litres.
After that the car can be used as usually. For long-term trouble-free operation of the transmission, it is recommended to use the composition Atomium MGSB after each scheduled replacement of transmission oil.
Precautionary measures:

Does not pose a health hazard under normal conditions of use.
In case of skin contact, wash the exposed area with warm water and then with soap and water.
In case of contact with eyes, rinse them with plenty of water.
In case of contact with the digestive system, consult a doctor.

Notes:

Shelf life is 5 years. The date of manufacture is indicated on the bottle.
It is not recommended for use in mechanical failures of parts and assemblies.
Additive Atomium MGSB is compatible with all types of transmission oils, including ATF-based oils.
1 bottle of Atomium MGSB is enough to handle any transmission with a volume of transmission fluid up to 3.5 litres.
The sediment at the bottom of the bottle is the main working element of the composition of Atomium MGSB - microparticles of minerals. It is extremely important to thoroughly mix the contents of the bottle before pouring it into the gearbox. (The colour of the sediment may vary from light green to dark grey and black depending on the production batch).
The composition of the "manual transmission" does not interact with clutch clutches, does not affect the wear and performance of the clutch discs, does not prevent clutch failures.
An overdose of 1.5-2 times is not dangerous for the transmission and does not disrupt its operation.
The composition of Atomium MGSB does not affect the characteristics and condition of parts made of composite materials, ceramics and rubber products.
